SHOULD YOU BE CONSIDERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF GRACO ELECTRIC SPRAY MACHINES?

GRACO KING E SERIES V'S GRACO PNEUMATIC KING

What are the Pros and Cons of each Graco Unit?

E-KING V'S PNEUMATIC KING

The Graco King E series is still a fairly new product on the market so if you’re currently using the Pneumatic King, is it time to consider the next generation of Graco King Sprayers?

Graco Pneumatic King

Challenges

  • Pneumatic Spray equipment requires high energy consumption. When it comes to air powered machines there is inefficiency introduced when converting electricity/fuel into compressed air, then to kinetic energy. With energy bills continuing to rise and ESG on the agenda, this is a consideration for businesses.
  • Investing in an air unit plus compressor is expensive. The compressor will also require ongoing maintenance.
  • The noise of the compressor is one of the main contributing factors to the noise of the machine but the changeover of the air motor is a lot harsher and louder than the E king. (83 dBA).
  • Getting a compressor on a site can be less convenient than getting an electric supply. A compressor will also take up more space.

Benefits

  • Both Pneumatic Spray Equipment and E-King are ATEX.
  • Higher potential power. Air motor can be used to drive larger pumps at similar pressures with better flow rates to supply larger tip sizes and dual gun setups. Which also improves compatibility with thicker products, where there is a requirement. (Flexcrete etc.)

Graco E-King

Challenges

Pump Size v’s Tip size

  • Customers may have concerns over the pump size. The power of the motor and pump size determines the maximum spraying pressure and the flow rate. The electric motor is less powerful than the air motor but not all applications need the maximum power of a pneumatic king.
  • Pneumatic sprayers (60:1) have a 220cc wet end, whereas the Graco King E-60 sprayer, for example, has a 115CC wet end. This leads to the perception that the spray output of a 60:1 pneumatic sprayer is greater than that of a King E-60. The output is based on tip size not on wet end. In most applications, the output of both pumps is the same.
  • The Graco E-King is a slightly heavier machine but not unmanageable. Both spray machines requires 2 people to carry them.

Benefits

Reduce Energy Wastage

  • The Graco E-King needs a 5kVA power source, there is no need to install an expensive air ring main from an air compressor. Most modern facilities will already have an electrical supply.
  • Going electric avoid loss of air through the system and therefore a wasted energy.
  • Ideal for application where you need the pressure but not the flow rate of a pneumatic king.
  • The E King converts electrical energy directly to kinetic, eliminating the efficiency loss caused by the extra steps.
  • The e king does have more green credentials:

 - There is also no energy wasted though air leakage.

 - The Electric king saves up to 80% of energy costs when compared to an air operated sprayer*.

*Graco study completed for a pump pressure of 241 bar (3500 psi) for 20 hours/week; spraying 1226 L (324 gal) of 73% volume solids epoxy with XHD519 tip.

Reduce Paint Wastage

Paint wastage through overspray is addressed with the Graco King E-series. With virtually no pulsation on pump changeover, the spray fan is more consistent.

Minimise Noise Pollution

Noise levels are reduced. The lack of a compressor running and smoother changeover on the electric motor make for a much quieter spaying experience.

E-King outputs 77 dBA compared to the 83 dBA of the pneumatic equivalent.

Increase productivity

  • The King E-60 will support the use of two spray guns simultaneously, which increases job productivity.
  • Easy set up

Flexibility

  • The Graco E-King supports paint hose of up to 64m
  • The King E-Series electric airless sprayers are available for hazardous locations as well as non-hazardous locations.
  • Available ATEX approved.

Reduce maintenance costs

  • Electrical technology also reduces pulsation and prevents motor icing, making your jobs run smoothly.
  • No Icing Issues
